              PRESS RELEASE Attorney Ramoncita V. Reyes, also known as Minney to her relatives and friends, and a grand niece of the Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, will deliver the opening remarks on June 11 (Thursday) at the opening reception of the Jose Rizal Traveling Museum in USA, to be held at the Saguaro Hotel, 4000 N. Drinkwater Boulevard, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. The traveling museum will be open free to public on June 12 (Friday) and June 14 (Sunday) from 9 – 5 p.m. There will be an open forum with Minney Reyes and with the Knights of Rizal. The Jose Rizal Traveling Museum is a historic and cultural project of Sir John Ablaza, a member of the Arizona Knights of Rizal. It was originally launched in relation to the centennial celebration of Philippine Independence in June 1998. John was commissioned to do the replica of Dr. Jose Rizal (National Hero of the Philippines) belongings which then became a part of an exhibit called Jose Rizal Traveling Museum. It has toured different ports of call on board Negros Navigation Vessel and important museums all of the Philippines. On his personal initiative, John spearheaded the international travel of the said exhibit to the United States in Los Angeles, California and Chicago, Illinois in 1999. It was displayed at the Philippine Embassy in Belgium in 2012. The mission of the traveling museum is to pay tribute to the national hero through this project, to keep the torch of Rizal’s legacy burning, to bring Rizal’s legacy to Filipinos in different places in the country, to awaken patriotism among the Filipinos wherever they are. Minney, the grandniece of Dr. Rizal, is also expected to grace the 117th Philippine Independence Day Celebration to be held at the ASU West Campus, 47th Avenue and Thunderbird Road on June 13, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. under the leadership of Sir Dr. James Campbell, Chairman of the Council of Filipino Organization of Arizona (CFO-AZ). Sir James is also a member of the Arizona Knights of Rizal (AZKOR, INC.) Jose Rizal is a hero who died for his country, and many writers consider him to be the “First Filipino and the Great Malayan.” He is known as the man who fought the Spanish colonizers through the power of his pen by exposing their arrogance, abuses and despotism; the writer of two novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo that sparked a revolution; a doctor who cured his mother’s eyes; and a polyglot who spoke 22 languages. Minney belongs to the clan of Saturnina, Jose Rizal’s eldest sister. Saturnina was married to Manuel T. Hildalgo. One of their daughters, Adela Rizal Hidalgo married Jose Ver. This couple gave birth to Emma Ver who married Ramon Reyes, who had several children and one of them is Ramoncita V. Reyes, nickname “Minney.” Minney attended Bennington College, in Vermont, USA in 1980-1984; afterward she enrolled at the Ateneo De Manila, Makati Philippines and was graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1990. While at school, she was in the Dean’s List, and in 1998 and 1999, was member of the prestigious Ateneo Jessup International Moot Court Team. Her article, “A Case Study in Diplomatic Immunity and Economic Sanctions and Reprisals,” was published in the Ateneo Law Journal, Vol. 33, No. 1, July 1989. After passing the Philippine Bar, she became a junior associate of the well-known law firm of Sycip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, for five years from 1991-1995 - where she practiced in the area of corporate law, banking and securities such as build, operate and transfer agreements of power and highway projects of Hopewell Group, etc. In 1995-2000, she started her own law office and became an external counsel for Climax Arimco Mining Corp. In her private corporate practice, she did contract drafting, reviewed and negotiated joint venture agreements, real property development, service contract of Vintage TV for satellite uplink, co-production of television shows and acquisition of air-time, construction projects, etc. From 2000 to the present, she is the managing partner of Suarez & Reyes Law Offices. The law firm specializes in corporate and securities law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, telecommunications, mining and immigration law, information technology and bpo services, business and investment and investment advisory, estate planning, labor and tax consultancy. The grandniece of Dr. Rizal has indicated that she is so excited and is looking forward to meeting the officers and members of the Order of the Knights of Rizal in Arizona consisting of three chapters, the Arizona Knights of Rizal (AZKOR), the Goodyear Knights of Rizal (GKOR), the Knights of Rizal East Valley (KOREV), their respective Ladies for Rizal and the Filipino community in Arizona as they celebrate the Philippine Independence Day this coming June13, 2015. The three chapters of the Knights of Rizal are under the leadership of Sir Warren Cruz, KCR, Chapter Commander for AZKOR; Sir Bart Ganon, KCR, Chapter Commander for GKOR; Sir Ruben Reventar, KCR, Chapter Commander for KOREV. Sir Dr. Conrado R.Ballecer, Jr., KCR is the Area Commander for Arizona Western USA and the Deputy Area Commander is Sir Manny Torres, KCR. Sir Judge Tom D.
